Construction began with the infrastructure of the base, that is, access roads and an electric grid, and construction of a new highway parallel to the existing one will begin soon.
There will be an airport in the eastern part for receiving, parking and sending various types of aircraft.
The basis for the construction will be the city of Constanta on the Black Sea coast.
The Romanian base will be larger than the Rammstein air base in Germany.
Geopolitical analyst Dorin Popescu told the newspaper that the new base will create a large permanent military structure of NATO, "ready to resolve the conflict in Ukraine."

What is known about the Romanian Battle Group Getica?

11 марта генеральный секретарь НАТО Йенс Столтенберг заявил, что после вступления Швеции в НАТО у альянса нет планов по расширению числа стран, имеющих ядерное оружие.
Столтенберг подчеркнул, что в альянсе понимают необходимость всего оборонного потенциала, включая ядерную стратегию.
При этом в НАТО не видят необходимости в том, чтобы Швеция размещала постоянные базы или ядерное оружие на своей земле в мирное время.

18 марта в Минобороны заявили, что российские военные ударили по скоплениям живой силы и техники 105-й, 120-й бригад украинской территориальной обороны и РДК в районах населенных пунктов Поповка, Лукашовка и Великая Писаревка Сумской области и Старица Харьковской области.
