Some Ideas Brought Up by the President of Ukraine address to the Israeli Parliament

We [Jews] have no other means of self-defense than our solidarity
Albert Einstein

Almost a week has passed since President of Ukraine addressed the Israeli Parliament. In fact, it was a tiny link in a quite long chain of Vladimir Zelensky's speeches in front of parliamentarians of various countries in pursuit to convince the most respectful people of different nations that Ukraine was under a real threat facing the Russian aggression.

As to the oration in front of the Knesset, I guess, he has had extremely high hopes, as we, the Jews realize to the fullest what a threat to existence of a nation is.

"No doubt! I will ask them to trade us their Iron Dome, and they will accept it! I will ask them to help us with other weaponry, and they will certainly accept the deal…"

Probably, that was the idea that Mr. Zelensky had had in mind when he was discussing with his speechwriters the core issues of this specific discourse.

Jews are not a nation! Joseph Stalin

Maybe we did not look like a nation when the Jewish people were scattered all around the world. When very few representatives of the People of Abraham were allowed to reside in cities of the Russian Empire in accordance with the Decree by Katherine II (better known as the so-called "Pale of Settlement Law"). As one of those Jewish revolutionaries had put it during the trial against him: "It is the Pale of Settlement that has brought us into the revolution!"

However, only the Holocaust, when six million (as per the official statistics), and twelve million Jews as per non-official sources, perished in the blaze of total genocide that started in the Nazi Germany itself and ended up in all the countries of Continental Europe invaded by Hitler.

Yes! We are a nation! We managed not only to revive; we have made our nation into a real Wonder for the whole world.

However, we, the Jewish People, have made a Holy Promise to ourselves: "We will never ever forget the horrors of the Holocaust!"

Therefore, I am extremely furious: How has Mr. Zelensky even dared to mention the Holy Memory of those who died in the Hugest Tragedy of the 20th century. But he went even further: he tried to compare the massacre of the Holocaust with the current situation in the Ukraine.

I am unaware of the Ukrainian President's educational backgrounds, but I am more than positive: history is not his favorite subject. Otherwise, he might have known a few historic facts, i.e.: the famous 1941 Jewish pogrom in the city of Lviv was initiated and performed by the Ukrainian nationalists TOGETHER with the Wehrmacht troops that had shortly entered the city. Or else the less prominent, but also bloody 1945 Kiyev pogrom when the Jews were returning back home…

Yes! We are proud to be Jewish! Therefore, WE offer OUR HELPFUL HAND and SOLIDARITY to the Ukrainians. And we give the Jewish people from that country our protection and assistance.

That is the reason that Tacitus's claim that "[The Jews have] an attitude of hostility and hatred towards all others" is completely groundless.
