The Buddha had his exploit. From the Christian point of view, he was mistaken, but his mistakes were not easy for him. As this appeareth to me, it was difficult for him to renounce delights of the world, like it is difficult to be ascetic for Christian eremites. But the Buddha was struggling against his passionate nature, aiming to that what he considered the truth.

У Будды был свой подвиг. С христианской точки зрения, он ошибался, но его ошибка не давалась ему легко. Ему, как мне это представляется, тоже было сложно отказаться от прелестей мира, как сложно подвизаться христианским аскетам. Но он перебарывал свою страстную природу, стремясь к тому, что он считал истиной.
