titikshavah carunikah suhrdah sarva-dehinam
ajata-shatravah shantah sadhavah sadhu-bhushanah
titiksavah - patient; karunike - merciful; suhrdah - friendly; sarva-dehinam - to all living beings; ajata-shatravah - no one feels hostility; Shantah - pacified; sadhavah - follows the instructions of the sastras; sadhu-bhusanah - possesses all virtues.
Sadhu is patient and merciful, he is the friend of all living beings. He has no enemies, he is pacified, strictly follows the instructions of the sastras and is endowed with all the virtues.
3. 3.1 Author of words.
These are the words of Lord Kapila in His conversation with the mother Devahuti from His explanation of the greatness of devotional service.
3.3.2 History of the creation of the poem, to whom is dedicated.
The conversation is about the third person. Describes a person who has reached the heights of devotional service.
3.3.3 Poetic phonetics.
In this text we can see the use of sound recordings - sound repetitions, creating a kind of sound "drawing". He is clearly audible in the ending of words in –ah. (Titikshavah karunikekh suhrdah).3.3.4 Subject, idea, main idea / what is the verse.
To succeed in the spiritual life it is necessary to serve the mahatma - the liberated soul. How to find mahatma ie sadhu. By what criteria to determine it? This verse answers this question of the previous verse.
3.3.5 By what artistic means does the author's main idea, theme and idea of the verse reveal:
An interesting point is that the word for word does not include the word sadhu. However, Srila Prabhupada calls this a person with all the listed qualities.
3.3.6 Comment analysis.
Key points:
A sadhu, as already mentioned, is a devotee of the Personality of Godhead, therefore he always strives to give people knowledge of devotional service to the Lord, thus showing his mercy.
A sadhu must possess inexhaustible patience, for in preaching he inevitably encounters many adversaries. People persecute or insult him, since not all conditioned souls are willing to accept transcendental knowledge of devotional service to the Lord. They are sick, so they do not like spiritual knowledge. And sadhu undertakes ungrateful work
What is the difference between a friend and an enemy? First of all, their attitude towards us. A sadhu spares no efforts to help all the conditioned souls to free themselves from material captivity, therefore the conditioned soul has no friend better than the sadhu who shows her the path to liberation.
3.3.7 Srila Prabhupada's mood.
Convince the conditioned souls to engage in devotional service and to do it with love, like a real sadhu. To preach broadly for the good of all beings.
3.3.8 Application in preaching.
This is the way to present our acharya, the founder of ISKCON, His Divine Mercy A.Ch. Bhaktivedantu Swami Prabhupadu. Srila Prabhupada certainly does not praise himself in this verse, but all the features seem to be attributed to his qualities. “His mercy for conditioned souls knows no bounds. So one of his qualities is manifested - karunika, great compassion for fallen souls. ” (SB 3.25.21 comm)
3.3.9 Vaishnava integrity. It would not be right to look for these qualities in yourself and not notice them in other devotees. No need to think that such individuals lived when it was very given, but now the people have crushed and not found a person with similar qualities.
3.3.10 My perception of this verse is personal use.
This verse gives a complete picture of the sadhu - the holy person. Understanding the qualities of the Vaisnava mentioned in this verse will help me cultivate good qualities and notice these qualities in other devotees.
Thus, Vaishnava culture will more easily give roots to my mind.
