Alfred Adler was sleeping and he was having a bad dream. Strange little people in the Hitler Youth uniforms and shorts (he hated to wear them since childhood) called a psychologist a “Jewish wuss”, reminded him that he had rickets, and also accused him of lust which ultimately had led to his cooperation with Sigmund Freud. It seemed to sleeping Alfred Adler this was about sexual feelings he felt for the old Freud. But even in the dream the psychologist felt doubts.
In the image of Freud, he felt something like a fatherly love, warm daddy grin, with readiness to forgive any prank.
And that was why he felt guilty when he decided to go his own way in psychoanalysis. It is as if he offended Freud for no reason, had not met his expectations. Before that time he thought that Freud was his wise teacher that he allowed to go behind closed doors of a false reality without fanaticism and condemnation. Before that time he thought that Freud was his wise teacher, who allowed him to go behind closed doors of a false reality without fanaticism and condemnation.
But, frankly, it was very tiring for him to dig for hours in the chains of associations and motives of patients which could drive the devil himself crazy. Besides, such long-term therapy reflected badly on the contents of his purse.
Consequently Alfred Adler came to the conclusion that life should be treated rationally and as simply as possible. Ultimately the psychologist chose for himself the role of an ironic Rabbi, telling people the truth of life and inspiring optimism. The psychologist even started to collect Jewish jokes.
Alfred Adler, basically, didn't have dreams anymore. Since during this period of life everything went well, the psychologist decided he had got rid of a sense of inferiority, fictive hopes, and finally turned resolutely towards the reality. And all dreams are a sign of a mental illness.
And there it is. "Azohen vey! Hello, again”.
Dreams came back. And these dreams were so infantile and with such an idiotic nationalistic connotation.
Meanwhile, the dream became more and more nightmarish. Strange little men armed with assault rifles got into tanks and planes to conquer Europe and Africa, defending geopolitical interests. Dwarfs were smashing Jewish shops and houses in Germany, and he was confused and lost, and they driving him in a dirty and smelly lorry to ...
"In the gas chamber?"
Alfred Adler woke up from the nightmare and immediately tried to analyse the dream, "But it is complete drivel... This can't be happening. Probably I've been too tired; recently I've been under a lot of pressure, so such a prophecy came to me."
But he felt a vague anxiety.
“Apparently, I need to move to America. The situation is calmer there and I'm respected. Several universities offer me a chair,” he thought.
Subtle psychologist, the expert of human souls, Alfred Adler, could not even imagine that a German superiority complex could take so many insane forms. And until now, nothing is known about the fate of his daughter who moved into the Stalinist Empire.
