Paying bitterly
For all they've done
The shadows of my past
Are leading me steady and fast
Along the road to nowhere
Happy not to have said
The bitter words of regret
To those I have met
And left
Stay tuned to the channels of life
And earthly success
May you have it to excess
Bravely winning your lovers' caress
And warmth and kisses
But nevertheless
Those life-torn pieces
of you
Though they may seem perfectly whole
Are still paying the same old toll
Of getting destructively old
We are all on the same old road -
be it fair enough or unfair -
to nowhere
