Flying Pillow
Vanechka was a little boy. He was six. And for about a week he was ill. He was at home alone. He had a high temperature, a headache, a pain in his throat and a cough. His mother gave him some medicine and then went to work.
Vanechka lay on the bed and felt sad in spirit. He thought that his friend would play and run in the garden without him.
But at this moment he felt a weak push from his pillow and his pillow took a small jump onto the bed and said to him:
- Hello, Vanechka! How do you do? Help me, please. We need to rescue my friend!
- But I am ill and I can not…- reply Vanechka with amazement.
- My friend eagle Eddy has been kidnapped by a wicked magician – said the pillow urgently,- and we have to fly to him now.
- But both you and I cannot fly, - said Vanechka.
- Can I fly? Yes, of course. I lead all pillows in bravery and speed! Take hold of me with both hands. And they flew out of the room through the open window.
- They flew higher and higher in the sky. At last Vanechka asked the pillow why did the magician kidnap eagle Eddy? And where is he now?
- Eagle Eddy has a magic feather. Why ever owns this feather is a super magician. But eagle Eddy didn’t tell the wicked magician which one of his feathers were magic. Now the brave eagle is in the highest tower of the magician castle. And by sunset the villain will kill him and throw out his feathers from the window. Because the magic feather will fly down slowly singing a magic song and shining brilliantly in the first rays of the setting sun, if the magician throw out eagle’s feathers down from the tower when the sunset begin.
…They left the town and flew very quickly over level land. The sky was blue. Only a few clouds flew towards them.
- Hi, Nelly! How do you do? – cried the largest cloud.
- Hello, Agatha! We’re off to rescue eagle Eddy quickly,- answered the pillow.
- Then fly quickly. Soon the sun will be setting!- said the cloud.
- Why is Nelly? - asked Vanechka.
- I am Nelly, - answered the pillow.
And they rushed and rushed.
Suddenly they stopped above the old castle. It was dark from top to bottom. All the windows were made from black glass. That is why the halls and rooms of the magic castle were always very dark.
- We mast go to the highest tower trough the secret passage, - whispered the pillow.
- The secret passage in the sky? - asked Vanechka.
- Don’t be silly, - answered Nelly, - and look attentively!
Pillow breathed out feathers from its mouth. They flew rapidly to the tower and turned into the rainbow. Inside the rainbow was the secret passage. They came to the window, pulled down the iron grating and broke the glass.
Eagle Eddy flew out the tower rapidly. And at this moment the sunset began.
