Rose (impersonation of Oscar Wilde)
In one winter morning, a rose blossomed on the window. Fluffy and delicate she was, because she was born in the winter, when there was not enough sunlight in the world. She could see the sun, of course - but through the window, and the sun was so small, so distant, and not all of its rays penetrated through the glass. To add to it all, the outside was cold, and often cloudy as well. She often thought and wished about how it could be - to live as the summer flowers do. To be able to bathe in the sun, and the warm rain that came from the clouds. Alas, it was not available. She could only imagine that, nothing more.
Probably, those summer roses have never seen snow. Well, the snow was useless to them anyway, and probably they did not even know that there is such thing. Rose herself knew that the snow is water crystals, only frozen. And that it is white. Her petals were also white as the snow. But not quite as white…
Sometimes she dreamed about how good it could be to cheat a bit, and survive until the summer! To see it all with her own eyes! She closed her eyes and clearly imagined all this magnificence. The winter suns gently stroke her petals in the morning. And the snowflakes were dancing when the wind caused them to be worn on the air with small sparkling eddies.
"White rose, white rose, in the summer you would be red! Summer all Is Red, all filled with the juice of life" – Snowflakes laughed.
"The wind saw the red roses, and he told us so! They are so rosy and lush! Admired by all, they are real beauties!" – Snowflakes tease.
White Rose pressed her fluffy, curly head against the glass, catching the scarce rays of sun. Snowflakes were there, and they were not afraid of the cold, they were free.
"Red roses grow on the balconies – sang those light snowflakes – Woman beauties weave them into their curls. And their lips are as red and tender as the petals of the red roses... And you're like a fragile silly figurine looking at the world through her glass! "
They laughed, and the wind carried them further. But once the wind penetrated the window frame, and the white rose became cold. The wind leaned and whispered to her. Although she was feeling very cold, she did not stepped back, and listened to what he said.
Afterwards White Rose ceased to pay attention to the snowflakes laughter. The next time they appeared she shook her curly head merrily, and said to them: "You are like me as well! You are white, you are beautiful. You are the flowers of the snow! And if the sun will shine a little brighter, you will melt, and you will be no more! I was born in the winter day! I am like you. And yes, when I die, there still will be winter. But I will not regret that! "
