The Heart of Darkness

Евгений Фролов
The ghostly boat was lulling us,
Your slender form was blurred by night,
Your breath was mixed with that of stars
Inside the dark, outside of light.

Your vests were torn away by waves,
Your breasts were kissed by wilful winds,
Your shoulders were embraced by shades,
By their arms, by their wings.

The lulling boat, the rolling stream.
Never was uttered a single word.
The faintest gleam – the quaintest dream,
The darkest shadow in the world.
